Respect for nature and a commitment to sustainability are at the heart of everything we do.

We believe it’s essential to protect our home and surroundings by living as eco-consciously as possible. Not just for ourselves, but especially for future generations and our children.

Having lived here year-round for over 25 years, we’ve witnessed firsthand the effects of climate change. Ignoring these changes is no longer an option. We depend on the land and cherish its gifts throughout the seasons, fully aware that this delicate balance can only continue if we act with care and responsibility.

For us, sustainability isn’t a trendy buzzword but a daily way of life.
That’s why we’re eager to share the steps we’re taking toward a greener future. We believe that by opening up the conversation, we can learn from each other and explore practical ways to protect our environment and support our local communities.

Let’s work together toward a healthier, more sustainable world, one small action at a time.

These are our actions in order to be more eco-friendly:

  • We heat our restaurant using an energy-efficient air fireplace.
  • Low-consumption lighting is used throughout our property to minimize energy use.
  • Air-to-water heat pumps provide hot water and heating efficiently.
  • We avoid practices that contribute to pollution in any form.
  • Only eco-friendly cleaning products and biodegradable detergents are used.
  • We actively work to reduce our overall electricity consumption.
  • We recycle extensively: paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, batteries, used cooking oil, food scraps.
  • Towels in guest rooms are changed only upon request, helping conserve water and reduce detergent use.
  • Rainwater is collected in our traditional well just as it was done a century ago.It is used to water plants and meet various garden needs.
  • We prioritize buying organic, seasonal food from local producers whenever possible.
  • Each season, we forage from the land around us: wild garlic, mushrooms, fruits, berries, herbs, teas, and flowers.
  • We make homemade jams for breakfast from local and foraged ingredients.
  • Our chickens are fed with food leftovers, providing us with fresh organic eggs.
  • Leftover soap is repurposed into laundry detergent to reduce waste.
  • Garden waste is composted and returned to the soil to nourish future growth.
  • Every year, we produce medicinal creams using herbs we gather ourselves.
  • We host seasonal cooking workshops to share knowledge, raise awareness about local food production, and promote sustainable cooking practices.
  • Each year, we volunteer to help clean the trekking paths that connect our village with neighboring ones, preserving the beauty and accessibility of the area.

And with these small steps you can help too!

  • Use lighting only when necessary and switch off appliances when not in use.
  • Keep windows and doors closed when the heating is on to help maintain room temperature and save energy.
  • Be mindful of water use. Use showers and flush toilets only as needed.
  • Reuse bed linen and towels when they’re still clean to help reduce water and detergent usage.
  • Support local producers by choosing regional dishes and locally made products.
  • Help us recycle by separating paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, and batteries.
  • Respect the natural surroundings and local wildlife — enjoy without disturbing.
  • Never leave trash in nature. Use bins and keep our landscapes clean for everyone.
  • Buy local herbs and natural medicinal products from Zagori to support traditional practices and the local economy.
  • Learn about the area before your visit. A little research will help you appreciate Zagori’s culture, history, and environment even more.
